Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using SECRETEUNION (the "Service"), or by submitting a spot, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of service

SECRETEUNION is a community-built, user-submitted directory of skate spots. Spots are submitted by users, reviewed by us, and — if approved — published to a public map. Legality classifications (legal, restricted, prohibited) shown on the map are assigned by us based on user submissions and our own review, and can change at any time.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to submit content to SECRETEUNION. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. Your submissions

When you submit a spot (coordinates, location, spot type, photos, and optionally an account name), you confirm that:

• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• You own the photos you submit, or have the right to share them.
• Your submission doesn't violate any law or any third party's rights.

You grant SECRETEUNION a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your submission (and any photos included in it) on the Service and in related promotional materials. You will not be paid for submissions, and submitting a spot does not transfer ownership of your photos to us — only this license to use them as part of the Service.

We review every submission before it's published and may approve, reject, edit, or reclassify it at our sole discretion, for any reason or no reason, without notice.

5. Prohibited submissions

We do not accept, and will reject, submissions that:

• Are blurry, unclear, or otherwise fail to meaningfully show the spot.
• Show identifiable people.
• Are missing coordinates or other required information.
• Duplicate a spot already on the map.
• Contain illegal, obscene, hateful, harassing, or otherwise objectionable content.
• Infringe someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Are submitted by automated means (bots/scripts) rather than a real person.

6. Legality classifications are not legal advice

Legality labels (legal, restricted, prohibited) shown on the map are informational, user-submitted, and may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete. They are not legal advice and do not constitute permission to access any location — including locations marked "legal." Property ownership, local ordinances, posted signage, and enforcement practices change constantly and can vary block to block. You are solely responsible for independently verifying the current legal status of, and obtaining any necessary permission for, any location before visiting it.

7. Assumption of risk

Skateboarding is inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Visiting any location listed on SECRETEUNION — regardless of its legality classification — carries additional risks, including but not limited to injury, property damage, citation, arrest, or prosecution for trespassing. SECRETEUNION is an informational directory only. We do not inspect, maintain, own, or control any location listed on the map, and we make no representation that any spot is safe to visit or skate.

By using the Service or visiting any location listed on it, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with doing so, known and unknown, and agree that SECRETEUNION, its operators, and contributors are not responsible for any injury, death, property damage, legal consequence, or other harm arising from your decision to visit or skate any location listed on the Service.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SECRETEUNION and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, injury, or death, arising out of or related to your use of the Service or any location listed on it, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SECRETEUNION and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your submissions, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your visit to any location listed on the Service.

11. Content removal requests

If you believe content on SECRETEUNION infringes your rights, depicts you without consent, or should otherwise be removed (for example, you're a property owner and want a listing taken down), email spots@secreteunion.com with the spot's location or URL and a description of your request. We review takedown requests in good faith and will respond within a reasonable time.

12. Third-party services

The Service uses Cloudflare (hosting, storage, bot protection), Mapbox (maps), and Google Fonts (typography). Your use of features provided by these services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your ability to submit content, or remove any published listing, at any time and for any reason, without notice.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington State.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
